A member of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) marshals a RAAF C-17 Globemaster following the aircraft’s arrival in the Middle East. *** Local Caption *** Two Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) C-17A Globemaster aircraft delivered key military equipment and personnel to the Middle East Region.

Arriving on Saturday, September 20, 2014 the aircraft unloaded specialist equipment which will support the air component including RAAF F/A-18F Super Hornets, a E-7A Wedgetail early warning aircraft and a KC-30A refuelling aircraft.

The arrival of this equipment and personnel is the beginning of Australia’s build up in support of the US-led Coalition to disrupt and degrade ISIL in support of the Iraqi Security Forces.

The ADF contribution in Iraq is being coordinated with the Iraqi government, regional countries and international partners.
