The more I see of the Opel Insignia derived all-new Holden Commodore the more I start to wonder if I’ll miss the big Aussie beast, and today Holden have released details of an all-wheel-drive Commodore Wagon they call the Tourer – I’m calling it Adventra 2.0.

Holden has had a couple of cracks at the high-riding all wheel drive family wagon before, but this one finally looks the goods.  I mean – remember this one?

Yeah, not so good.  The 2018 Tourer is the third body style confirmed for the new Commodore lineup and has 20mm more ground clearance along with those hallmark grey protective off-road body additions around the wheel arches and lower body.

Holden’s Sean Poppitt said “The next-generation Commodore Tourer gives the range a new level of appeal, combining Australia’s love for SUVs with the practicality of a wagon and the driving appeal of a sedan. Whether you’re a weekend warrior, or just like the idea of being one, the Commodore Tourer gives our range a new dimension”

“Commodore Tourer comes with a high-tech AWD system and also lets customers select specific driving modes, giving them the flexibility to be able to get off the beaten track – whether that’s finding secluded camp spots, quiet surf beaches or boutiques in Bondi.”

This subtle beast comes with all the mod-cons you’ll get in the next gen commodore such as emergency braking assist, adaptive cruise, lane departure warning, lane keep assistance, matrix LED headlights and a bunch more tech like active noise cancelling.  Actual on-road and in-showroom dates are yet to be announced.
