Hoverboards anyone? Quantum Levitation video!

Well I’m no scientist, I just love cool things – and this is cool in both the awesome and temperature sense of the word.  This video demonstrates the phenomenon of ‘Quantum Trapping’ and is just great to watch!

Demonstrated by the superconductivity group at Tel Aviv University and Lead by Prof. Guy Deutscher, a leading physicist in the field of superconductivity what you see in this video is a superconductor being cooled and floating above a fixed magnet.

Taking it one step further they then show it operating on a ‘rail’ and – stunningly, even shows ‘double levitation’ with two superconductors floating at different levels passing each other in ‘air’.

I don’t care what your interest in physics and science and all that is – this is cool!
