Katich and Clarke cat fight catches Aussie cricket out

Sometime test saviour Simon Katich has gone on the attack against Aussie Captain Michael Clarke, saying he won’t be selected to represent his country again while Clarke is at the helm.

Despite Cricket Australia selecting John Inverarity as the new national selector, Katich doesn’t believe this will help his plight at all. Commenting on Inverarity’s selection, Katich told The Sydney Morning Herald, “’It’s pleasing to hear but I think you don’t have to be Einstein to figure out that it’s not just the selectors that had a part in sending me on my way. To be brutally honest, obviously what happened in the dressing room here a few years ago didn’t help my cause. And, obviously, the captain and coach are selectors. Just because [John] is going to be chairman of selectors, or whatever role it is, I wouldn’t have thought that’d make too much difference.”

Katich has admitted that he has not spoken to Clarke about the 2009 incident. It was post-match at the SCG when Katich allegedly got physical with Clarke when the now-skipper wanted the team song played early so he could leave to see his then partner Lara Bingle. When asked if he thought he would make it back on to the test side while Clarke was at the helm, Katich responded that he wouldn’t have thought to.

Cricket Australia and Michael Clarke have not responded to the comments made by Katich. The Sydney Morning Herald has gone into further detail about the incident – you can find the article here.
