Red Arrows pilot dies after being ejected from Hawk T1 aircraft

More tragic news has hit the British Military’s Red Arrows following the death of a pilot. He was ejected from the Hawk T1 aircraft while it was stationary on the ground at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire.

The Royal Air Force has commented on the tragedy, saying that medical services were immediately called and the pilot was taken to Lincoln County Hospital but was later pronounced dead. The Military Aviation Authority is carrying out an investigation into the incident.

It’s been a trying time for the Red Arrows of late. Last August 33 year-old Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging was killed in an air show crash near Bournemouth airport in Dorset. In that incident witnesses said the plane flew low before crashing into a field. Hawk T1s were grounded after the event.

Another incident occurred last year during training in Crete, where two planes crashed into each other. Neither pilot was injured in that case.
