The big man of News Limited, John Hartigan, steps down

News Limited CEO John Hartigan will step down from the post at the end of the month. The announcement was made by bigger man Rupert Murdoch in a statement just released.

Hartigan has spent more than 40 years with News Limited, beginning on The Daily Mirror in the 70s. He’s been a key figure in the shaping of News Limited brands in Australia. His replacement will be current Foxtel CEO, Kim Williams.

With the News Limited catastrophe that was News of the World all but done and dusted, it’s a good time for Hartigan to be stepping away. What this means for the amazing fake Twitter handle @bigharto is yet to be seen. Surely there are some good golf retirement jokes to come?
