Range Rover to launch Evoque convertible

Range Rover has announced plans to lop the roof off its new Evoque. And just when we thought they had cracked the style puzzle on SUVs. Look out Mosman mothers, your new car is about to hit showrooms.Perhaps we are being too cruel on Mosman mothers… even they have a small sense of style. And where would they put the pram? To be fair to Range Rover as well, it’s still in concept, but it will be judging peoples’ reactions at the Geneva Motorshow to see if it goes ahead and puts this thing into production.

The Evoque convertible has a soft top and a drop down tail rather than a conventional boot. Apparently it was relatively simple to convert into a topless model despite issues that often crop up with rigidity and stability.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director told the SMH: “This study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque’s lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable.”
