The first Amazing Spiderman trailer forgets Spiderman 3 ever existed

It has only been 10 years since Tobey Maguire convinced us that a superhero film could be about more than just action and superpowers, but Marvel has already decided to reboot the Spiderman franchise. The first trailer for the reboot has just been released, and it’s impressive.

Promising to explain how Peter Parker ended up living with his Aunt and Uncle, The Amazing Spiderman casts Andrew Garfield (Eduardo from The Social Network) as the genetically-enhanced superhero, with an all star cast including Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Denis Leary and Emma Stone.

Even the most cynical Spiderman fan should be excited by this release, which promises to bring the origin story in line with the comics. It hits theatres July 4 this year.
