Men of the Week featuring Bob Carr, Andrew Rochford, Steve Price, Gotye, Mark Arbib and more

Wowzer it’s been a week for the politicians in Canberra. A few of them make the list this week, but’s it’s been a big week outside of politics too. Steve Price, Gotye and Andrew Rochford did enough to mix it with the pollies including Kevin Rudd, Bob Carr and Mark Arbib.

Good Week

Bob Carr: Come on down to the front bench, Bob Carr. The former NSW Premier has taken up Kevin Rudd’s old position as Foreign Minister despite the papers reporting the deal was off just a few days ago. All eyes in Canberra will be on Carr now to see what he can do to help the struggling Labor Party.

Steve Price: So the St George Dragons were going to struggle without Wayne Bennett? No way. New coach Steve Price took the team up to Newcastle for the first round of the NRL, took on Bennett and his new team, the Knights, in round one and came off victors. Well played boys. Now for the rest of the season…

Dr Andrew Rochford: The Doctor is in. Rochford and his team debuted the new Breakfast show on Network 10 early thanks to the Julia Gillard versus Kevin Rudd thing, and low and behold, it wasn’t a complete disaster. There are still a lot of things to be ironed out with Breakfast, such as interviews with people where all three of the hosts seem to get in on the action rather than just one, but all-in-all it wasn’t a bad effort and a good alternative to Kochie and Karl.

Gotye: Is there anything Wally De Backer can’t do? Probably plenty, but creating amazing songs isn’t one of them. It’s now time for the US market to hear about Gotye. He’s racked up over 93 million hits on YouTube for Somebody that I used to know and had Rolling Stone say they can’t play enough of his album. Not bad, mate.

Bad Week

Kevin Rudd: We said last week that no matter what happened, K-Rudd would still be going strong. And it’s true, but he would still be having a pretty low week deep down. Hope the back bench seat is comfortable.

Juan Montoya: Left the big league of Formula 1 for the American big league of NASCAR. It’s been a pretty bumpy ride at times, but none more so than this week when he collided with a safety truck carrying a massive tank of jet fuel on board.

Mark Arbib: Not only did he have to step down from Federal politics, The Australian has found an episode of Home and Away he starred in. We don’t know which is more embarrassing.
