Honda CR-V rolls at the Nürburgring (Nordschleife)

It may have been one of the better Easters on our roads in Australia, but if you’re the driver behind this Honda CR-V, it was a good four days of solid reflection.

Reflection on what an idiot you were to flatten a Honda CR-V on one of the most notorious race tracks in the world. Reflection on what you are going to do now that you have no car. Reflection on how the hell you walked away without any serious damage to yourself or others (or so we are led to believe).

The incident happened at the famous Nürburgring (Nordschleife) race track where average Joe can do a hot lap for around $35 in the car they rock up in. Most do the lap in performance cars while some will hit the road in cars barely worthy of any sort of road at all. While the Honda CR-V isn’t a bad drive, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that it’s going to have a fair amount of roll in the corners thanks to the height of the car combined with the short wheel base.

At 1:06 in this video you see the Honda CR-V fly around the left hand, get a serious tank slapper and then go for a tumble or twenty. The contents of the car duly spill out all over the track while the high-performance vehicles behind barely slow down to get around the mess. Probably a sight they have seen one too many times.

The moral of this story? There’s always a video camera nearby and Honda CR-Vs are not racing cars.
