New Pentax K-01 designed by Marc Newson

He’s more famous for designing the interiors of the Qantas A380s and its refurbished fleet, but now Marc Newson has turned his attention to cameras. The Pentax K-01 is a camera for people that want to be seen, not just those that want to shoot.

In bold yellow and with a retro feel to it, the Pentax K-01 is a statement DSLR. It’s a 16.28MP camera with newly developed CMOS image sensor measuring 23.7 millimetres by 15.7 millimetres. It also comes with PRIME M imaging sensor and an extra wide sensitivity range of ISO 100 through to 12,800. You can shoot Full HD video with the K-01 and it also features HDR, which most people will be more familiar with in iPhone 4s.

Additional features worth a mention include Shake Reduction for, umm… shake reduction. The feature is compatible with all Pentax lenses the K-01 cam use as well as any third party lenses attached natively to the camera. Being a DSLR there are a stack of other features which we won’t get too stuck into for those into the looks rather than the tech specs.

In terms of the looks, well, you can see for yourself. You would want to be pretty confident in your appearance to be modelling a K-01. The bright yellow will grab a heap of attention and the almost retro appearance is certainly in at the moment.

Want to grab one? You won’t have to wait long now.
