If you’re a bit of a petrol head that enjoys the finer things with a few cylinders, check out the RACV Motorclassica in Melbourne between October 26-28. Almost $100 million of rare and collectible cars will be on display for your eyes to gaze on.
This isn’t like the Motor Show or any of those other new fangled car deals. This is all for motoring purists – people with a passion for the heart and soul of motoring, not the climate control and built-in sat nav.
RACV Motorclassica 2012 will celebrate the centenary since the very first Victorian Motor Show and will be showing off an 1898 Thompson Steam Car which was first displayed at the 1912 show as a relic of motoring. So perhaps this year there will be a V8 engine on display which will be the relic of motoring. OK, bad joke, especially for an Australian audience.
Other cars to make an appearance include include classic American muscle cars such as the Morgan family’s impressive 1956 Chrysler 300B, Joe Calleja’s faultless black 1969 Ford Mustang 429 Boss and a very rare Holden FJ Stationwagon which is one of only three known examples in the world.
Tickets to the event start from $20.
