Arvo Beer settles on brew number 51

It seems that Casella’s quest for the perfect lager finally has a winner. Say hello to number 51.

After running the Perfect Lager Project to engage Australian lager drinkers, Casella Wines decided to extend the suspense by combining two different brews into every six pack when it launched Arvo back in June.

Now, a little over three months and 9000 votes later, it seems the Australian public has decided that the more subtle Brew 51 is the victor.

Officially launching on November 1, the brew is cheekily labelled “The Perfect* Australian Lager”, with the asterisk pointing to a footnote on the back of the bottle that claims:

“We call this a perfect lager because it was crafted by thousands of Australian beer drinkers just like you.”

The only downside to this whole thing? I preferred brew #34. Let’s hope they don’t kill it off entirely.
