Mates Rates: New super-slim 250GB PS3 for $269 from Kogan

If you were eyeing off the sleek new PS3 but shy of the $400 price tag, the team at Kogan is selling imported machines for just $269 plus shipping.

Naturally, there’s a catch. Even though the console’s games are considered region-free, if you want to watch Blu-ray movies or DVDs on this particular model, you’ll need to grab them online, as it will only support Region A Blu-rays and region 3 DVDs.

In other words, games you buy at JB HiFi will work, but movies won’t.

Still, it is cheap, and could be useful as a second console for the kids or the bedroom.

Price: From $269 plus shipping
