Sleek Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 15/16 sound system built right into your wall

Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 15/16 Family of speakers installed flush on a wall

We’re big fans of the stunning products released by Bang & Olufsen here at EFTM. We’ve looked at the company’s TVs, portable speakers, and the BeoPlay range in the past. At CES in Las Vegas, B&O has announced a beautiful new sound system that not only sounds good, but looks like it’s part of the room it’s installed in.

This truly is a sound “system”. It consists of four units, and three separate products. The first is the amplifier – creatively named “Amplifier 1” which is rack-ready and gives the system its quality sound through some nifty engineering that I won’t even pretend to try and explain here.

Add to that the speakers, two circular units which are installed flush into your wall, known as the BeoLab 15s.  Then there is the BeoLab 16, the sub-woofer. Together they make for magical sound.

What’s awesome about these are the two speakers sit flush with your wall when not playing, but when you fire up the sound a small, and almost silent motor tilts them out on an angle. They are a two-way active speaker with a 3/4-inch tweeter and a 3-inch midrange and can tilt out up to 45 degrees from flush.

The price? $US4595. Local Australian pricing is not yet available, but if you are worried about the exchange rate at this price level then you’re probably not in the target market for this high end B&O gear.

They are beautiful, and the concept of speakers “retracting” to be flush with the wall is something we were mighty impressed with.
