The EFTM Garage – Toyota RAV4 GXL AWD

Rolling up the garage door this week we find a Toyota RAV4 – perhaps the original family SUV the 2013 model has introduced the new Toyota styling and it’s a good thing – gone are the bubbles and curves – in come the lines and pointed ends.

Toyota RAV4

Make: Toyota

Model: RAV4

Variant: GXL AWD

Standard Features:

Price: $37,990 (plus silver paint and full-size spare options as driven)

Wow Factor: This is one of 16 models in the RAV4 range, the RAV4 is basically the original SUV and this year’s model is a vast improvement in styling and handling

Most Impressive: The straight lines and edges give the 2013 RAV4 a much better look on the road and in the car-park, plus, the interior quality really does deliver value. For the first time is the availability of a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel.

Not so impressive: We’re yet to see it hit the 8.5 l/100 fuel economy listed on the sticker, and the infotainment system while comprehensive seems a long reach for the driver with very small font and buttons. Firm ride.
