Sydney’s iconic Opera House has been available as a LEGO set for some time, but that was just 260 pieces. In September LEGO will launch a 3,000 piece version of the Opera House as part of its Creator Expert product range.
Joining other iconic buildings from across the globe like the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower and Tower Bridge, the Sydney Opera House is now immortalised in LEGO bricks.
This thing won’t be easy to put together, with angled walls and those iconic rooflines the Opera House is something very unique. Once built it will be 28cm high, 63.5cm wide and 38cm deep – so clear some space for construction and display!
To fit this massive structure, LEGO have also included in the kit the largest blue studded baseplate ever made, as well as some rare pieces within the building itself.
To celebrate its arrival LEGO Australia has replicated two iconic images of the Opera House out of LEGO bricks, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the famous Australian landmark.
This beast took three years from idea to final model development, and inside the box are four building instruction manuals. There are also – quite uniquely – several pieces within the set that are “off-stud” – which means they connect without using those familiar round LEGO branded studs.
It’s going to set you back $399.99 and is available from September 1.
