POLO RED – The fragrance inspired by cars and speed

Ralph Lauren. Say his name and for most blokes Polo shirts come to mind. But the American fashion designer and business executive has his fingers in many, many pies. EFTM has got hold of his latest ‘Eau de Toilette’, and it’s not the smell but the inspiration behind it that we found interesting.

Ralph Lauren is a serious car nut. In his garage are examples of Bentley, Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Porsche and Ferrari from the 1920s to the 1990s.

POLO RED

Ok perhaps not always in his garage, the exquisite collection has even been showcased in the Louvre, Paris. He has a 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic which could fetch as high as $40 million with only four ever made.

Anyway with all this in mind the great man had released a new fragrance named POLO RED. Inspired by his passion for cars and speed, POLO RED is said to bring, “Seduction and a daring confidence anywhere” and “Ignite the thrill-seeker in every man”.

We were left grasping at words to describe the POLO RED experience so left it up to Ralphie. He reckons it’s, “A fiery mix of spicy red saffron, fresh red grapefruit and deep red wood” – We second that.

Of course what would a fancy fragrance be without an eye-catching bottle. POLO RED comes in a robust ‘Ferrari Red’ glossy bottle with sleek curves toped with a matte black cap.

Honestly it’s a pleasantly strong and resilient fragrance, there’s no need to drown yourself in it.

Good gear like this makes Lynx look like spray on lolly water.

The latest fragrance in the Ralph Lauren portfolio is available in three sizes. 30ml, 100ml, 125ml ($80, $110, $160).
