The Smart Toothbrush that connects wirelessly to monitor your brushing

At CES last year, the gimmicky gadget was the Smart Fork.  This year it’s the Smart Toothbrush.  Called the Kolibree the makers claim this to be the world’s first connected electric toothbrush.

Connecting to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth this electric toothbrush will attempt to help you manage your brushing by giving you information about how well you brush and how often.

Using data from on-board sensors the Kolibree knows more about your brushing than you might care to wonder.

The idea came from the founder’s kids – like many, they just weren’t brushing enough or properly.  So what better way to get them going than to gamify the whole process.  Award badges and medals in the app for good brushing and the kids will soon be wanting to do more.

While it’s a great idea, it’s just a concept.  Due in the third quarter of the year we’ll wait and see just how well it works.

The claim of the world’s first connected electric toothbrush is true, only that it’s electric.  We saw a similar concept last year in a non-electric toothbrush.
