Logitech UE MINI BOOM review – Small in size but packs a punch

Since taking over the Ultimate Ears brand Logitech have put out some cracking good products from earphones to speakers and docks.  The UE Boom is arguably one of the best in class portable Bluetooth speakers and following on from that Logitech this week announced the smaller form factor UE MINI BOOM – available for just $99.

The world of Bluetooth speakers this size is pretty much split in two sections.  Those that simply offer a Bluetooth connection with a speaker and retail for around $50, and those which actually offer a decent sound and functionality and set you back something more like $100.

UE MINI BOOM fits into the latter category – it’s small (about the same width as an iPhone is long, and the same height as an iPhone is tall) – but the quality of the entire package is excellent.  A smooth yet rubber-like outer skin, embossed Bluetooth and Volume control buttons on the top and a simple power switch, charging port and Aux input on the back.

Pairing as with most of these things today is very simple, and the sound is certainly impressive.  I’d warn against high volume though in an indoor setting, the sound is certainly loud but it feels a little hollow which does take away from the overall experience.  At a more moderate level this unit packs a punch to rival anything in the class.

Outdoors you’ll get a slightly better experience just because of the environmental factors but be warned this one isn’t waterproof like it’s UE BOOM big brother.

One great feature of the MINI UE BOOM is the ability to grab two of them and link them wirelessly to give you double the sound.

Available in Orange, Purple, Red, Yellow and Black this is a great little speaker worth keeping around for those outdoor trips, BBQ’s or any time you want music on the go.

You’ll find the MINI UE BOOM at all the big retailers alongside the many speakers all battling for your dollar.
