Bundaberg Rum Master Distillers’ Collection Blender’s Edition

The iconic Bundaberg Rum brand and more importantly the people behind the Aussie favourite have announced the arrival of the 2014 Master Distillers’ Collection (MDC) Blender’s Edition. Since 2009 the collective wisdom of some of Bundaberg’s finest have produce an annual release of pure dark rum goodness.

The Master Distillers Collective painstakingly go about selecting a high achieving Bundaberg Rum blend that stands tall above the rest.

Who are these lucky people? Well to put it simply it’s the blenders, bondsmen and distillers. Just the type of people who know their stuff, the workers at the coal face.

MDC Blender’s Edition has been crafted from a selection of the Distillery’s richest reserves, matured in port and sherry barrels.

As one who struggles to expertly to describe the taste of anything I’ve again left it to the experts!

It’s said this edition is “complex and layered with delicate hints of raisins, vanilla and spice, and coupled with a long and exceptionally smooth finish”

Beautifully put, but let me have a crack…

My synopsis is, “It comes packaged in its own quality display box and the drop itself is contained in a classy glass bottle that looks indestructible”

On the drop itself I say “It’s certainly smooth but not all that dissimilar to regular Bundy, which isn’t a bad thing. Drink on the rocks and don’t ruin with some sugary soft drink”

What a pro hey?

If anything the 2014 Bundaberg Rum Masters Distillers’ Collection Blender’s Edition would make for a thoughtful gift. The individually numbered 700ml, 40% Alc/Vol bottles retail nationwide for $89,99.
