There are a stack of apps for both iOS and Android which will help you check the weather now and forecasts for the days ahead. But how many of them embrace your love for Formula 1? I’ll tell you – one. Racing Elements.
This is easily my favourite app right now, and I rarely even open it. That’s because – running an Android based phone you get the best of this app – with Widgets.
On an iPhone you get the app and whenever you open it you see your location and any other global locations you’re interested in with their weather information overlaid on top of a stunning Formula 1 photo.
The same applies to the Android version – except with Android you are also able to create a “widget” on your home screen. A Widget is a live-tile, customisable in size which shows data from the app. So on my home page I have continuously updated Formula 1 images with my local weather on show.
Images change throughout the day, but rest assured, each and every image is stunning.
The photos come from legendary photographer and reporter Bernard Cahier who captured some amazing shots from the 50’s through to the 70’s, as well as his son – Paul-Henri Cahir who is also a long-established motor-sport photographer.
Paul-Henri has added insightful commentary of each photo which can be read with a swipe.
Inside the app menu you’ll also find a real-time social media feed from respected Formula 1 pundits and paddock insiders plus the all important weather forecasts and race schedules.
I’m sure it’s a nice looking weather app on iOS, but for the best experience – switch to Android! This thing is stunning, and no matter how big you make the widget, it’s a delight every time you use your phone to see these amazing pics.
Available for free in the App Store and Google Play you’ve got a stack of photos coming your way – but if you’re like me it won’t be long before you part with $16 or so to get access to all the photos in the library – or you can pick and choose your favourite categories.
Download now, enjoy.
