Vale Sir Jack Brabham, Australian Motorsport legend

Yep, the word legend is often overused, but on days like today it has pride of place next to the iconic name Sir Jack Brabham. Sir Jack passed away aged 88 earlier today on the Gold Coast and it’s hard to imagine a more iconic name in Australian motorsport, indeed he sits alongside Sir Don Bradman in Australian sport generally.

From humble beginnings Sir Jack rose to the top of the sport, winning the Formula One world championship three times. He is the only man to have ever done so driving a car he built himself.

Many a tribute will be written and published, and rightly so. We’ll pass that over to the many great tweets being shared online.
