What do you get when two huge global organisations announce a partnership? Speculation. Vodafone today announced a “landmark deal” with Spotify, but the announcement lacked any detail of just what Vodafone customers would be getting. EFTM believes the deal will result in free Spotify Premium access for Vodafone customers.
Either Spotify users are getting unmetered access to Spotify streaming on the Vodafone network, or, free Spotify Premium accounts – currently available at $11.99 per month.
Whatever the detail, anything that makes streaming music more appealing will be a win for Vodafone. Their customer demographic is almost perfect for Spotify so you can see the brand alignment.
Free Premium accounts would increase customers data usage, but with some of the highest data caps in the market it’s not likely to be a problem for most Vodafone customers.
Details of whatever it is Vodafone and Spotify will offer will come in the weeks ahead, we wait with interest.
