Renault Traffic: Comfortable and easy to drive – EFTM Quick Fix

Vans are an important part of the commerce of society, from tradies to couriers these things take a lot of trips, carry a lot of goods, and their drivers spend a lot of time behind the wheel.  So, what has Renault got to offer the prospective buyer?

Make: Renault

Model: Traffic

Variant:  L2H1 Twin Turbo

Engine / Transmission: Type 4 cylinder Common Rail turbocharged diesel, 6 Speed Manual

Vital Stats: 103kW/340Nm

Renault Claimed Fuel Economy: 6.2L / 100km

EFTM Claimed Fuel Economy: 7.4L/ 100km

Price: $38,490 – As tested: $40,480 (With Premium Pack)

Wow Factor: This is a big van that feels 100% not like a van when you drive it.  The steering is light and easy, the gear shifts are smooth and simple, the on-board technology like reversing camera, hill start assist and more make it a real eye opener

Most Impressive: The ease of drive is quite possibly the most unexpected of any car I’ve driven.  I expected to “adjust” to not only the manual transmission, but the commercial ride and handling.  This is nothing like what you’d expect.  Genuinely impressive and you’ll notice that on a 10 minute test-drive

Least Impressive: Probably the turning circle, it’s wide, and while that’s understandable for a vehicle this size (5.4m!) at 13m it’s a big circle, and while it achieves that with very few turns of the wheel, it is one thing against it.

The Sweeping Statement: This is the commercial van you have to test drive if you’re looking to upgrade, you’ll be impressed by the cabin comfort, the cabin separation, technology and most importantly the ride and handling.
