2017 Bathurst 12 Hour: Date Confirmed

After a cracking 2016 event, organisers of the Bathurst 12 hour have today confirmed the date for the 2017 race that is essentially the start of our local motorsport season.

The 2017 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour race will be run on February 5th 2017, with the event itself spanning February 3 to 5.

After Shane van Gisbergen’s win this year – a first for McLaren, and following Nissan’s factory support for the event it’s certainly an event that’s getting more and more traction both among competitors and manufacturers from all around the world.

We’re going to see more makes and models in the race and while 2016 saw a 14% increase in the crowd to 37,079 it’s likely that number will also continue to grow.

Event Director John Casey said Supercars Events, which manages the race, was keen to maintain the well-established date continuity  “The Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour is not only accepted as the traditional first major event on the Australian motorsport calendar, but is also now highly regarded as one of the top GT races in the world,” he said.

“The way it has been embraced by manufacturers and drivers from across the globe is proof of that.  There is no better way to kick off the new season with the best international and local teams and drivers going head to head at one of the most iconic circuits, Mount Panorama.  We are very pleased to be able to lock in the date early and we are already working on ways to grow the event. 2017 should be a very exciting year.”

Should be a cracker race!
