B&O Play release new A1 portable speaker with 24 hour battery life

With design and quality heritage as deep as Bang & Olufsen the BeoPlay range of speakers has brought the brand to a whole new audience over recent years. Adding to that today is the new A1 speaker, small, portable and with one hell of a battery life.

It’s the smallest speaker in the B&O Play range, designed by Cecilie Manz measuring 133mm x 48mm and weighing 600g.

You’ve got what B&O call a “360-degree soundscape” giving great sound around the room it’s in, and will also work as a speakerphone for your calls.

B&O Play Corporate VP Henrik Taudorf Lorensen says “People today seek elegance, simplicity and flexibility in the way they live with music. They want their speaker to deliver a rich and beautiful soundscape for the home as well as seamless portability for life on the go”.

“With the BeoPlay A1 we have pushed the boundaries of the ultra-portable speaker category and empowered people to take powerful sound and beautiful design anywhere they choose”.

Like other BeoPlay products it also has a soft leather strap for easy portability – or perhaps to hang it around the house?

We’re keen to have a listen, B&O say the BeoPlay A1 delivers a full range deep bass to as low as 40hz.

In reality the key feature of the A1 will be battery life.  The 2200mAh battery offering 24 hours playtime hits to a new sweetspot we recently saw in the Sony Extra Bass product.  Seems to be the limit to hit for this price point in Bluetooth speakers.

It comes in two colours, Moss Green and Natural, and will cost $379.  You’ll find it from May at Bang & Olufsen stores, Myer and duty-free stores.
