Celebrate International Coffee Day, All Day

October 1st is now International Coffee Day. Yes, everyday is a day dedicated to something these days but when it’s coffee, we’re ok with it!

We’ve put together a meal and beverage plan to keep you celebrating (and keep you awake) for the entire day.

The Morning Brew

Make the first coffee of the morning one you can sit with and enjoy, make a proper cup of coffee. We’re also suggesting that to celebrate the occasion, add some design and decoration to the top. Jura have a great design step by step listing that you can follow here

Morning Tea (Coffee)

You’ve worked a few hours now, must be time to raise that caffeine intake again but we’ll do it in sweet fashion. Tiramisu is a dessert that may sound or look difficult but we’ve tried and tested this recipe so we know it’s possible – and delicious. While this is a good morning tea, it could easily be your after dinner treat except we found something else to go there! Our Tiramisu recipe is here

Lunch

Visit your favourite cafe, thank your barista, order the usual and just take 5 seconds to think about what went into the creation of that brew. The beans that grew, were picked, were roasted, were packaged, sent to Australia, ground, and eventually producing what is in your hand today. It’s a a marvellous creation.

After Work Drinks

Your day is over, it’s time to wind down, add a touch of liquor to your afternoon but without the slump. No need to be a mixologist or cocktail waitress here. Pick up a Melbourne Martini. It’s an espresso martini in a jar. Put it in the fridge, shake and pour. The easiest espresso martini you’ll ever have and it’s delicious. They’re less than $10 each from Dan Murphy’s.

Dessert

We hope you had a big dinner because our recommendation for dessert is a liquid one. It’s a dessert you’ll want to enjoy on a big brown leather couch while listening to Miles Davis on the turntable. Mr. Black is a coffee based liquor which is best served neat, perhaps over ice, perhaps with a twist of citrus, but don’t tamper with it too much. It’s a great drink to share without being overpowering in alcohol. Dan Murphy’s will sell you this one also for a tad less than $60.
