Plantronics welcomes the iPhone 7

With the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus not running a 3.5mm headphone jack plenty of panic has developed around how we’ll ever listen to music. Apple have announced the AirPods but they’re receiving a poor reception based on looks alone. Plantronics has a new product on the market which provides another option to those who are “jackless”.

The Plantronics BackBeat Go 3 is the third iteration of a wonderful pair of wireless earphones. Plantronics produce good sound and embedded smarts to offer a good music option to you. The benefits of the BackBeat Go 3 over the AirPods (on paper) are the following:

  • Sweat resistant: The Plantronics are coated in P2i nano-coating making it resistant to some light rain or a good amount of sweat during a workout.
  • Different fitting options: Three different buds allow you to ensure these earphones fit snug into your ear and wont fall out easily
  • Left & Right is physically connected: These aren’t independent ear buds. They have a wire connecting each other, this means that if the left falls out, it wont hit the floor. Also, when not in use they can hang around your neck

Plantronics have been making wireless earphones from simple to professional for a very long time, they know how to get it done. Plantronics informed EFTM they are excited that Apple has made this change too; “When a major player like Apple makes a bold move away from legacy, analog technologies, it helps the whole industry grow. Removing the headphone jack will encourage more consumers to cut the cord and drive more innovation as the market expands.” Says Tanguy Leborgne, Vice President of Consumer Solutions, Plantronics.
“Plantronics has been working to help Bluetooth headsets go mainstream since our first headset featuring Bluetooth wireless technology in 2001. This is not only good news for us, but for an entire industry that is seeking the best in audio solutions, and we’re excited to see where it goes next.”

The key message here is to know that you have a long list of options in the wireless earphone space, many manufacturers like Plantronics have been doing it for years, and the sound quality is very good and always improving.

BackBeat Go 3 will be available in two styles—Cobalt Black and Copper Grey from 13th September. The price for the BackBeat Go 3 is $179.99 and $199.99 with Charge Case.
