Bring the Italian Summer Cocktail to your Home

The best food is generally simple, consider Pizza for a moment, the best ones are with less than five ingredients, it allows each flavour to stand out and not be lost. The same applies to mixed drinks. Keep it simple and the flavours will speak for themselves.

With summer around the corner we wanted to guide you through the easiest cocktail direct from Italy, the Negroni. Dating back to 1919 when the idea was originally conceived, Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender for a twist on his favourite cocktail, the Americano, adding gin instead of soda water and an orange twist. Without further ado…

Negroni

Ingredients:

  • 30ml Campari
  • 30ml Cinzano Rosso
  • 30 ml Bulldog Gin
  • Orange zest

Method:

Take a glass… add a good amount of ice…. add the above ingredients… stir….

Say “Saluti!”

It’s extremely simple, has fruity and bitter notes but looks amazing when presented. Some may find it too strong so we’ve noticed adding some lemonade eases the strength a little. All three ingredients contain alcohol so it is understandable!

Campari is a bottle which is extremely versatile when it comes to making cocktails so don’t assume that Negroni is the only use for it. Campari is putting together a calendar featuring 12 cocktails from bartenders all over the world which will feature this handy bottle behind the bar. Called Campari Red Diaries and available very early in 2017 so stay tuned.

Drink responsibly and never drink and drive.
