Stylish quality – B&O Beoplay A2 Active portable speaker

B&O Play recently launched a new speaker into their range – the Beoplay A2 Active which adds splash and dust resistance as well as fast charging.

When we tested the Beoplay A2 two years ago was impressive.  The colours today seem a bit dated, but the sound was amazing and still is.

The A2 Active is the same speaker with a modern refresh.  It’s dust and splash resistant which makes it more portable because you can keep it poolside or even at the beach.

Design wise they’ve added two “NATO-inspired” straps of “woven polyamide” on the handle.

Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, Corporate VP of B&O PLAY says “The two straps for Beoplay A2 Active are inspired in large by the extremely durable watch straps that British soldiers wore during World War Two. More than complementing the new dust and splash resistant design, the new straps add a contemporary and stylish expression to the speaker and highlight the versatility of the Beoplay A2 design,”

The battery should give 24 hours of portable play-time, and using the Beoplay App you can monitor the battery status of the speaker.

One concern is the switch to USB-C – while forward thinking and likely to offer faster charge and better output to compatible devices, most people right now would get no use from it given they don’t have a USB-C charging cable for their smartphone.  Again, minor thing, I don’t think most people charge their phones from speakers anyway.

Available in two colours, Natural and Stone Grey at a price of $599 it’s in the high-end, but well worth it if you’re looking for something of a top quality all-round.
