A road trip around Australia will have you passing landmarks and photo spots. The Big Merino in Goulburn, The Big Banana in Coffs Harbour and now The Big…Big Mac in Tamworth.
Sitting on a podium, the Big Big Mac sits over 8m tall. To give you an idea of scale, the sesame seeds on the bun are the size of typical light bulbs. The story behind the Big Big Mac is worth a watch.
The towering tribute, was officially unveiled in the agricultural hub of Tamworth, NSW by Tamworth Region Mayor, Col Murray, on Australia Day (26 January 2017) saying “We’re incredibly excited to welcome the Down Under Big Big Mac to Tamworth. Agriculture is at the heart of our community with farmers taking great pride in supplying the tastiest and best produce. The Down Under Big Big Mac is a great way to say thanks to the farmers here in Tamworth and across the country who help keep Australian agriculture prosperous.”
Anyone wishing to get a photo pretending to bite the Big Big Mac, holding it up, pinching the top of it etc can find it at Waler Park (Kable Avenue) in Tamworth. If you can’t make it to Tamworth it’s worth remembering our farmers the next time you bite into a normal sized Big Mac, proudly containing ingredients from Australian farms.
