Today at Apple in Australia

It would be fair to say that when Apple opened their first physical store in Australia it was a big deal. It operates unlike any store and has customer service better than most. Apple has does offer training and education in their stores but today Apple is making big changes to improve this.

“Today at Apple” is bringing new experiences to all of its 22 Australian Apple Stores from this moment. You’ll be able to walk into an Apple store and experience world-class artists, photographers and musicians, teaching sessions from basics and how-to lessons to professional-level programs.

Every hour Today at Apple will run sessions totalling 1000 hours of education each week, all entirely free. This big change comes as one of the first major moves since Angela Ahrendts joined Apple from Burberry where she transformed the business to be customer centric.

“At the heart of every Apple Store is the desire to educate and inspire the communities we serve,” said Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice president, Retail. “Today at Apple’ is one of the ways we’re evolving our experience to better serve local customers and entrepreneurs.” The different sessions include:

Photo Walks
Explore the world around you and improve your iPhone photography skills on an inspiring photo walk. Apple will take you to new places, show you how to create stunning shots, experiment with the latest accessories and share our best photography and editing tips.

Sketch Walks
Go on a fun walk to new locations and learn how to sketch, paint and draw with iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. Get back to basics and explore drawing techniques, and join other artists to create collaborative artwork.

Basics
New to iPhone, Mac or Apple? Let us help you get started with the basics and walk you through the fundamentals of your device. Apple will show you how to navigate, stay up to date and feel confident about your new product.

How-To
There are so many amazing things to do and create with iPhone, iPad, Mac and more. From writing your first line of code to running your business to editing music, the Apple team will show you how to do more of what you love—and need to do—every day. Examples include Get Started with Coding or Edit Video on Mac.

Studio Hours
Bring a project you’re working on or want to get started, and the Apple Creatives can help. Drop in anytime for 90 minutes, or stay for the whole session.

Kids Hour
An adventure awaits each week as kids create fun, hands-on projects. Designed to spark imagination and creativity, kids will explore coding, storytelling, illustration, movie making, music and more.

Teacher Tuesdays
Connect with teachers to collaborate and learn new skills through hands-on projects. You’ll explore all the ways you can engage students aged 5 – 18, manage your classroom, and create learning experiences using iPad.

This is a fantastic development from Apple and we hope the others follow suit too. Owning an Apple product is only as good as how you use it. If Apple is keen to show you how to take your device to the next level, for free, then we’re supportive and might be due for a booking ourselves. Get started here
