Australian Volvo XC60 Pricing Announced.

Volvo today announced the pricing for its new XC60 SUV ahead of the official Australian launch in October that EFTM will attend. Available in three variants the XC60 should suit most people’s needs. It will kick off with the Momentum, Inscription and the sports oriented R-Design.

The 2017 XC60 is a complete replacement for the original XC60, which over nine years became the bestselling premium mid-sized SUV in Europe. It hasn’t achieved the same spectacular results in Australia but only time will tell this time around.

As you’d expect with any Volvo, the XC60 is stacked with safety technology. Steer Assist has been added to the City Safety system. Oncoming Lane Mitigation uses steer assist to help mitigate head-on collisions. The system will literally try and intervene via automatic steering assistance, guiding you back into your own lane and out of the path of an oncoming vehicle. This system is active between 60-140 km/h.

Volvo’s Blind Spot Indication System (BLIS) now uses Steer Assist functionality to reduce the risk of lane-changing collisions. Pilot Assist, Volvo’s advanced semi-autonomous driver assistance system, which takes care of steering, acceleration and braking on well marked roads up to 130 km/h, is available in the All-New XC60.

Performance

There are plenty of powertrains to choose from. The Diesel D4 engine pumps out 140kW and the D5 with Power Pulse technology delivers 173kW. The petrol-powered T5 delivers 187 kW and the T6, which with both a turbo and supercharger, delivers 235kW and 400 Nm of torque. There’s also a plug-in hybrid on offer, Volvo’s T8 sits at the top of the tree, with a combined 300kW and acceleration from 0-100 Km in just 5.3 seconds.

We look forward to a drive in mid-October!
