Is your wife’s KitchenAid mixer just sitting on the bench? Put it to use!

Did your wife buy one of those fancy big metal coloured mixers?  KitchenAid – that’s the name.  Might have been on the wedding registry – it’s a hot item there, or she might have twisted your arm.  Also, there’s a chance you’re into design and got one for yourself – not that there’s anything wrong with that.

But seriously, it’s just decoration right?  Sitting there.  Have you ever used it?  Have you ever seen it used?

Nope, me either.  Just once that I can recall.

So yes, it could mix a cake if pushed. But what more could it do – how can the KitchenAid become your all-in one, stop her asking for a Thermomix?

We asked the folks at KitchenAid what it could do – here’s six things they suggested:

It can make ice cream

The KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment can product up to 1.9 litres of delicious ice cream and other desserts! A dasher rotates within the freeze bowl to spread, scrape and mix the batter to the perfect consistency for soft, “melt-in-your-mouth” ice cream!

It dices, slices and shreds

The KitchenAid Artisan Food Processor Attachment and Dicing Kit simply attaches to the hub of your stand mixer to dice, slice, shred and julienne your favourite fruits, veggies and hard cheeses. This clever attachment includes KitchenAid’s exclusive ExactSlice system, which is an external adjustable blade that you can control with a lever to determine the thickness of your slices.

It juices

Like to start your day with a fresh juice? Like a fresh tomato and mango chutney with your fries? KitchenAid has a Juicer and Sauce Attachment that attaches to the Power Hub of your Stand Mixer and uses the motor to operate the Attachment. For juice and sauce of all consistencies, this Attachment comes with 3 pulp screens that allow you to make everything from low pulp to high pulp juices, sauces and jams.

It makes fresh pasta

Ever wanted to make your very own fresh pasta, but don’t have the time? Step in the KitchenAid 3-Piece Pasta Roller Attachment, which makes creating fresh pasta from scratch easier than ever before. These are commercial style stainless steel rollers and cutters that allow you to roll 6-inch sheets of pasta with 8 thickness settings. This attachment isn’t only handy for pasta, but can also be used to make cannelloni, lasagne and if you’re a little more adventurous, dumplings.

It spiralizes

One of the latest additions to KitchenAid’s attachment range is the Spiralizer with Peel, Core and Slice Attachment. This is the first spiralizer that takes advantage of the power and hands-free operation of your stand mixer, allowing you to reinvent classic meals in a flash. This attachment can perform several functions at once, including peeling, coring and slicing most fruits and vegetables. With endless possibilities from zucchini noodles to veggie chips, this attachment comes with several blades to cater for any fruit or veggie dish.

It grinds and minces

The KitchenAid Food Grinder/Mincer Attachment quickly grinds or minces everything from cooked and raw meats, firm fruits and vegetables. Just attach it to the Power Hub on your Stand Mixer, feed the food through the top and collect the minced product in a bowl underneath your mixer. Better yet, you can combine your minced meat with the KitchenAid Sausage Stuffer Tubes Attachment to take your Barbeque game to the next level!

Ok, sorry about that, we’ve just dipped into the kicker a fair bit with those ideas – but come on, plug it in – get it going!
