Following on from the announcement last month that eftpos cards would now work with ApplePay (at participating banks), today ANZ eftpos cards have also been enabled for Android Pay.
For ANZ customers this is an important announcement, because it means for any ANZ personal account holder there is no card left that won’t work with the major mobile wallets.
Your ANZ Visa card, ANZ Mastercard and ANZ eftpos card will all work with ApplePay and Android Pay meaning smartphone users can now embrace the tap and go mobile payment revolution.
ANZ Managing Director Products Bob Belan said: “ANZ customers now have access to a complete suite of digital payment options regardless of which card or device they use.
“We’re committed to maintaining our leadership position in offering customers new, simple and convenient payment experiences so we’re pleased to provide our eftpos cardholders the option to now make purchases with their Android mobile device.”
Sadly, if you’re hanging onto that old Windows Phone or original Blackberry then no – this isn’t for you. New Blackberry KEYone devices are Android though, so time to upgrade!
