EFTM Best Wireless Sound 2017: Sony WF-1000X

So this was debated quite extensively among the EFTM team. Geoff was keen on seeing the new Voice assistant integrated Sonos One being awarded Best Wireless Sound.

I thought the great little JBL Kids were deserving of recognition, then I stopped and couldn’t get past the new Sony in-ear noise cancelling headphones.

The Sony WF-1000X were announced at IFA in Berlin but just a month later I got to try them out at home.

This is something remarkable, we’ve seen fully wire-free headphones before now – and we’ve seen in-ear noise cancelling earphones too.

What we haven’t had is the combination of both – these headphones are 100% wire-free, and have noise cancelling born from the standards in Sony’s over-ear headphones.

Having that in such a small package is fantastic – and it’s going to be replicated in brands and products from many companies in the next year. The Sony WF-1000X are our winner of Best Wireless Sound for 2017.
