Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is a tablet for the family – including the kids

Kids today get screen time, they have a tablet or a touch-screen device to play with when the parents say so – but those devices don’t have to be just one brand, and they don’t need to break the bank.

Samsung has today announced a new Galaxy Tablet, the second generation Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and at $329 it’s hard to ignore.

A metal body, great look and the right size for smaller hands, it’s actually perfect for the kids – yet also ideal for browsing, streaming or whatever the parents want to do.

“At Samsung, we want Australians to have choice when it comes to the technology they use, and ensure it meets their unique needs,” said Garry McGregor, Director, IT and Mobile, Samsung Electronics Australia. “The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is designed for the whole family. It’s the tablet that’s easy to use whether you’re out and about or curled up on the couch, with long-lasting battery life to get everyone through the day.”

Battery life should kick through to 14 hours and while on-board storage isn’t great at 16GB, that can be expanded with a MicroSD  for more movie and data space.

Like no other tablet, Samsung have integrated Multi-User Mode so different people can see different apps, and parents can implement parental controls as necessary.

Kids Mode also includes games and videos for the kids and they sit in a safe user environment so you can hand the tablet over for screen time without worrying.

You’ll find it at Samsung Online,  JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Officeworks and, Bing Lee.

WiFi only version is $329, a 4G version will set you back $479.
