Which English Premier League team should you support? Check your Ancestry

You’ve got to hand it to the marketing people of the world, they come up with some cracker ideas. And this is one. Optus has teamed up with Ancestry.com to help you work out the English Premier League support your ancestry indicates.

Now for a non-EPL fan – someone who doesn’t have a team – this is bloody awesome.

For the EPL fans of Australia this could be quite upsetting. Imagine you’re a Liverpool fan through and through, and find out that your ancestry indicates you should be supporting Manchester!

It’s all based purely on your last name. Mine (Long) shows this ancestry:

And thus, I’m a gunners fan!

Optus’ Head of Television and Content, Corin Dimopoulos, said, “Curious fans can also use it to get their hands on the information they need to understand their new club’s history and players, and stay up-to-date on the matches.”

While Ancestry Marketing Director, Nigel Seeto said “Ancestry helps people gain a new level of understanding about their lives and the story that led to them. Optus Fancestry brings this to life in a fun and relevant way for a new generation of Premier League fans, ensuring they can discover more about their sporting heritage.

It’s all done online, from any device, just head to Fancestry.Optus.com.au and give it a crack!
