First Luxury Space Hotel to Launch in 2021

Ground control to Major Tom.. Your room service will be with you momentarily.

The world’s first luxury space hotel is set to launch in 2021, and you could be on it! Well, if you’ve got a lousy 9.5m US dollars in spare change.

Orion Span, a US based aerospace company has announced plans for the launch of its ‘Aurora Space Station’ which will offer guests a 12 day stay in space and an “authentic astronaut experience”. Anyone wishing to go on the trip will be subjected to a three month Orion Span Astronaut Certification (OSAC) program before take-off which will presumably equip them for space flight and living.

According to Orion’s website, the Aurora Station will be in orbit 200 miles above the Earth’s surface, providing luxurious accommodations which will include private suites for two, the most number of windows ever created for spaceflight, weightlessness, and the world’s only authentic astronaut experience.

“We developed Aurora Station to provide a turnkey destination in space. Upon launch, Aurora Station goes into service immediately, bringing travelers into space quicker and at a lower price point than ever seen before, while still providing an unforgettable experience,” said Frank Bunger, CEO and founder of Orion Span. “Orion Span has additionally taken what was historically a 24-month training regimen to prepare travelers to visit a space station and streamlined it to three months, at a fraction of the cost. Our goal is to make space accessible to all, by continuing to drive greater value at lower cost.”

Orion Span is now accepting deposits of $80000 to secure a spot on the Aurora, with reservations already booked out for the first four months of operation. The good news is that the first intake of guests will be shot into space in 2022, giving you plenty of time to save up the cheeky 10m bucks that’ll get you up there.

Sounds like one hell of a romantic two week holiday.
