Alexa finds another home inside the new Ultimate Ears UE Blast & Megablast

If there’s one thing Amazon is doing right it’s scale – they really know how to get into bed with a bunch of brands.  With Sonos integration, their own little devices and now a new device hitting Australia from Logitech’s Ultimate Ears it seems Alexa is everywhere.

The Blast and Megablast speakers are the smarter siblings of the hugely popular Boom and Megaboom speakers which have dominated for some time.

At $279 and $379 the Blast and Megablast aren’t cheap, compared to the older Boom and Megaboom it’s over a $100 premium for the advanced features.

They look quite similar.  Side by side many wouldn’t tell them apart, but there are some slight tweaks, the size (Blast are a touch bigger) and the general shape (Blast are a more sharp look) – but otherwise, same concept.

Boom on the left, Blast on the right

Except now, you’ve got voice control.  Link your Amazon account, then Spotify or Amazon Music and you can simply ask “Alexa”, to “Play John Farnham” and she will.

The sound is as ever – crisp, but heavy, a really great sound to fill a room – or a backyard.

The whole UE Family

Available now, you’ll find them at JB HiFi – no doubt a great option if you’re looking for Alexa Voice control.  Though if portability isn’t a requirement, the Sonos One is the real option, and if Alexa isn’t a match for you, try JBL Link products for Google Assistant built-in.
