Ethical chocolate, what’s that I hear you say? Well with 60 percent of the world’s cocoa grown from farming communities in West Africa it’s important to source this commodity responsibly. A Melbourne based company, Hey Tiger is creating some amazing handmade chocolate thanks to a committed team of chocolatiers. The flavours may seem bizarre, but I’ve had a chance to sample some and remarkably they just work. Better still you can impress your mum this Mother’s Day via a special gift pack.
The company is owned by a charitable trust plus the CEO, Cyan Ta’eed, does not draw a salary. Cyan was 2015 Telstra Victorian Business Woman of the Year, Australian Financial Review’s 2016 100 Women of Influence Enterprise Winner, and InStyle Magazine’s 2017 Woman of Style, Business Enterprise Category. Let me just say her life has taken a path way beyond just chocolate.
All products purchased through Hey Tiger aid community development projects by donating 50c per sale of each full-size bar and 25c per mini bar. They have set an ambitious target of $25,000 per annum but plan to up that as Hey Tiger grows.
Which brings me to the chocolate, trust me don’t dismiss what at first seems appears unorthodox.
The collection includes:
Having tried just about all of them personally I was very surprised at how well these concoctions just ‘gelled’. Sure, if you’re a Cadbury glass and a half person this may not be for you. But for an out of the box gift this Mother’s Day, why not give it a go!
The price of the Mother’s Day gift pack is $60.00. Price of bars alone are $5.50 (mini bars), $6.50 (ganache filled mini bars) $13.50 (full size bars) and $14.50 (full size ganache filled bars)
The #MYMUMROARS collection has three full and four mini bars. So that’s seven flavours, plus a handwritten card. It will arrive at her doorstep in a signature gold envelope. Jump on the website and make sure to fill in your personalised message at the checkout, but hurry time is running out!
