All the social, video, music or chat you need with new Vodafone pass options

For lovers of the messenger or social apps, there’s a new way to look at your data usage with Vodafone and it’s called the Vodafone Pass.

Today four new passes launch, including Video and Music which are an add on payment to your existing plan.

It works for the lower end Vodafone plans, at $35, $45 and $60 and allows you to pay an additional fee on top of that plan to unmeter the usage on that particular set of services.

The options are

  • Chat (Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp) $5 per month
  • Social (Facebook, Instagram, Pintrest) $10 per month
  • Music (Amazon, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, Sound Cloud) $10 per month
  • Video (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Stan) $15 per month

You choose the “Pass” above, and the applicable apps are then using data unmetered and not counting against your monthly data allowance.

For Music Pass users, there is no Apple Music which is disappointing but may have something to do with Apple’s tie up with Telstra.

These unmetered apps are also speed limited to 1.5mbps, which is fine for all except video, where you might get some slightly lower quality, though you’re unlikely to notice on your mobile phone.

Vodafone’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ben McIntosh, continues to push the benefits of the transparent plans on the Vodafone network.

“The beauty of the Vodafone global network is that our customers in Australia enjoy the benefit of products and services that have been tried and tested in other markets around the world,” he said.

“Right now, you can pay just $45 per month for 30GB of data (over 12 months, min cost $540) and that includes access to $5 roaming and the option to add on a Vodafone Pass for endless streaming.”

“There’s simply no need to sign your life away on a leasing plan or pay excessive monthly costs for additional data.

“There are savings to be made and we encourage people to review their current plan and look for the best deal – it’s as simple as that.”
