Ford GT race car to reappear at Motorclassica 2018.

Ford Performance will showcase for the 2nd time in a week the Ford GT race car at Motorclassica 2018 in Melbourne this weekend. As you may have noticed Aussie Ryan Briscoe took the beast for hot laps at the Bathurst 1000 over the weekend.

The GT is not being driven down The Hume Hwy of course, but being shipped directly from Mount Panorama to the ninth Motorclassica. This will be the last public viewing before it’s sent back to homeland North America.

“The Ford GT showcases our racing heritage and our push to innovate and develop the best technology for our road-going models,” said Ford Australian and New Zealand President and CEO, Kay Hart. “Having the GT at Bathurst was something special, and now to have the GT at a Motorclassica is an opportunity for enthusiasts to see the vehicle up close.”

Punters should head directly to the Ford Performance stand to see the #67 up close. The stand will also showcase famous race circuits across the globe where the GT has stamped its mark. Tracks include Daytona USA, Silverstone in the UK and La Sarthe at Le Mans, France. But don’t worry Bathurst won’t be left out the equation either!

“Driving the GT around Bathurst was a serious thrill for me,” said Sydney-born Ryan Briscoe. “The first runs were a little difficult, with the rain making it basically impossible to lay down a lap at proper speed. We just wanted to wind the GT up for the fans, with so many coming to look at the car in the pits,” Briscoe said. “Once it cleared up, though, we were able to make some serious headway and finally unleash the GT. It was a truly memorable experience. I’d like to thank everyone who made it happen. It was good to be back!”

Motorclassica 2018 spans four days, from October 12-14. The place to go is the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton. Ford fans will also get a chance to see the limited-edition Ford Mustang BULLITT. Movie buffs will love the replica 1968 Mustang GT Fastback that Steve McQueen raced around San Francisco in.

Tickets to Motorclassica are available for purchase at the event or via here.
