QLD Police Kia Stinger Hits Las Vegas.

As reported back in September the QLD Police Force is taking delivery of a fleet of Kia Stinger highway patrol cars. Kia is so keen to show off the new addition it’s taken one all the way to Las Vegas to be on display at the annual SEMA trade show.

The 272kW Kia Stinger GT is being showcased at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, a place we pound the pavement at each January for the Consumer Electronics Show. The QLD cops will put 100 Stinger GT’s into service over the next 12thmonths.

Assistant Queensland Police Service Commissioner (Road Policing Command) Mike Keating said the selection process was extensive. “It started with the desktop evaluation, then a track performance evaluation and then the operational evaluation conducted in real-world conditions.”

“The final overall evaluation and review included the very important aspect of maintenance and cost.”

“The Stinger performed very well in all areas and we had nothing but top reports from all the field officers.”

“The result is a road-policing first for us, the first foreign car to perform these duties.”

The enormous 8-seater Kia Telluride SUV is also being put through its paces. Via four highly-modified ‘Horizon Roamer’ examples, the Telluride is being hammered in a parking lot off-road course. The track includes a jump, mountain climb and water course.

The cars are powered by a V6 engine with all-wheel drive. The Telluride is planned to go on sale in the U.S next year. Kia Australia would love one, so would we!
