Razer have released what they’re calling the fastest ‘gaming grade’ Wi-Fi router

As I’ve said time and time again, one of the biggest challenges facing Australian gamers is our traditionally garbage internet. Now despite everything the NBN is doing to combat this, many of us are still dealing with terrible net.

The Razer Sila is a proposed solution to the problem. Razer is claiming that the Sila is the fastest ‘gaming grade’ Wi-Fi router, boasting technologies such as device prioritization, multi-channel bandwidth customization, equipped a tri-band mesh system and a dedicated back-haul.

If all that sounded like tech nonsense, simply put, the Sila has all of the bells and whistles to make gaming that much more enjoyable for those that don’t have a wired connection. These are your laptop gamers, mobile gamers and console (Playstation/Xbox) gamers.

For those that do understand wireless tech, you’d appreciate how important prioritization and bandwidth customization can be when trying to maintain a solid connection. A typical ADSL/2+ connection in Australia isn’t strong enough to handle multiple users if one of them requires low latency. By prioritizing the gaming device and limiting the bandwidth of the offending devices, the Sila would allow you to maintain a decent connection despite others sharing your connection.

Min-Liang Tan, Razer Co-Founder and CEO has said that “High precision and low latency can be rendered useless if the WiFi drops. So we took the next step to develop a strong foundation for our ecosystem; with WiFi that just works no matter where you are.

And he’s not wrong – it doesn’t matter how fast your computer is or responsive your keyboard might be if your wireless connection is rubbish. We here at EFTM hope the Sila lives up to the hype it’s built and the claims Razer have made – I personally can’t wait to put it to the test.

Out now and retailing for $439.95, the Razer Sila is certainly at the top end of the Wi-Fi router market. A product we’re eager to hear more about.
