Mazda CX-5 Scores A Petrol Turbo Engine.

The popular Mazda CX-5 is about to be given a boost, of the turbo variety. The SKYACTIV-G 2.5T turbocharged petrol engine will enter the line-up by the end of the year.

This is now the fourth engine to be added to Australia’s most popular SUV range. It will complement the SKYACTIV-G 2.0L and 2.5L petrol engines plus the diesel option known as the SKYACTIV-D 2.2L. When you consider the various trim levels, customers now have a chance from a stable of 14 CX-5 variants.

The engine boasts 170kW/420NM and has previously been found in the CX-9 and Mazda 6. Aside from the new engine choice the CX-5 has received numerous upgrades of late.

With a focus on technology, suspension, safety equipment and trim enhancements the CX-5 now offers an even more compelling package

Passenger safety now includes more standard i-ACTIVESENSE safety technology including Smart Brake Support (SBS), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), High Beam Control (HBC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane-keep Assist System (LAS).

If you get the chance to jump into the range-topping Akera, you’d be mistaking this was a German made car. There’s real wood, soft Nappa leather and even a tidy frameless rear-view mirror.

Thankfully the Mazda CX-5 now also scores Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. A 6-speed manual transmission is available on the Mazda CX-5 Maxx when paired with the SKYACTIV-G 2.0L engine. All other models score a 6-speed automatic.
