Audi Q3 – Safe as a bank according to NCAP

We expect to see the new Audi Q3 next year in Australia, but it’s already making waves overseas when it comes to safety. The Q3 has been awarded five stars via the Euro NCAP rating system. Given our safety rating body ANCAP fell in line with the European system at the start of 2018, you’d expect similar results here.
The model tested was a Q3 2.0 TDI quattro in left-hand-drive configuration. Overall adult protection was rated at 95 percent, child protection 86 per cent, pedestrian protection 76 per cent while onboard safety assist programs rated 85 per cent.

Audi crams their cars with driver assist systems under the banner “Audi pre sense”. The driver can be warned of imminent danger via a host of visual, audible and even haptic warnings. The use of radar will pick up not just other vehicles but pedestrians and cyclists.

Should the driver fail to take the necessary evasive action, the car will intervene via emergency braking. The Audi pre sense basic and Audi pre sense front come as standard equipment. An optional bundle can be chosen that combines adaptive cruise assist, camera-based traffic sign recognition, parking system plus, high-beam assist and emergency assist.
