Rode adds Multitrack recording to RodeCaster Pro

The sign of a great company isn’t just that they are Aussie owned and make all their gear right here in Australia, but that they listen to their customers – exhibit A-Z is Rode, the Audio company who made waves at the end of last year with their RØDECaster Pro podcast recording console.

My review was glowing, and it’s since been the star of every podcast and Facebook Live show we’ve produced.

In my review, the first thing I suggested that I might change, is the addition of Multitrack recording. Now – in a rather extreme statement, I suggested someone wanting that would be a post-production nark. That said, in all the feedback I’ve read and received, loud and clear – I hear ya, you want Multitrack.

Many people simply didn’t buy it for that reason alone.

So, get your fingers ready to online order, because in Feburary the RODECaster pro is getting a firmware update that includes Multitrack Recording!

Along with some updates to the interface overall Multitrack will record a staggering 14 tracks!

  1. Live Mix L
  2. Live Mix R
  3. Mic 1
  4. Mic 2
  5. Mic 3
  6. Mic 4
  7. USB L
  8. USB R
  9. TRRS L
  10. TRRS R
  11. Bluetooth L
  12. Bluetooth R
  13. Soundpad L
  14. Soundpad R

I listed them to make it clear how damn complex that post production is going to be, but – for me, it’s a good backup.

I’ll use the live mixdown 99% of the time, but if there’s something to grab out – we’ll hit the multi-track.

And it’s not like they’re doing this because sales aren’t doing well – oh no…

RODE Parent company Freedman Group’s CEO Damien Wilson says quite the opposite “The reception of the RØDECaster Pro has been exceptional,”

“The RØDECaster Pro is a world-first – a complete game-changer that has revolutionised podcast production. People who have only dreamed of podcasting are now able to do so, thanks to the simplicity of the RØDECaster Pro.

“But for us, launching the product was never the finish line. We continue to refine and improve the software features of the RØDECaster Pro, with the first significant upgrade being the addition of multitrack recording to the RØDECaster Pro’s capability. Whether you choose to mix live or edit in post, the RØDECaster Pro is the perfect solution for EVERY podcaster.”

The Multitrack Option will come in a Firmware update in “February” – chill though, EFTM understands that’s late, late February – so don’t get all narky on the timing.
