Priced from $46,990, the Tiguan 132TSI R-Line Edition is based on the five seat Comfortline and adds as standard an R-Line package with two-tone 'Race' cloth upholstery, 19" Sebring alloys, second generation Active Info display and tinted windows.
The Volkswagen Tiguan range has been given a boost with the addition of an R-Line variant. This makes the mid-sized SUV the cheapest R-Line SUV so far with prices starting at $46,990.
Based on the five-seat Comfortline model the Tiguan 132TSI R-Line edition scores two-tone race cloth upholstery, 19” alloys and an updated ‘Active’ info display plus tinted windows as standard.
Also standard is the normally optional Driver Assistance Package bundle that includes, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, traffic jam assist and emergency assist.
There’s a couple of options such as a sunroof and metallic or pearl look paint. The colour range includes Pure White, Tungsten Silver Metallic, Indium Grey Metallic or Deep Black Pearl Effect Paint.
Just one thousand Tiguan 132TSI R-Line Editions will be built. The Tiguan still sits above $40,000 due to ongoing emissions control production delays due to the Worldwide harmonised Light vehicles Test Procedure standard (WLTP). Cheaper Tiguan models should eventually trickle down to us.
Volkswagen Marketing Boss said, “The single best-selling variant of the Tiguan, either in five seat or seven seat Allspace guise, remains the top-specification 162TSI,” Mr Bradshaw said. “Some 80 per cent of 162 TSI customers choose the optional R-Line package.
“Customers told us that they wanted this option for the 132TSI. We listened. Here it is.”
The Tiguan 132TSI R-line Edition is powered by a 132kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit. Power is sent to all four wheels on demand via a seven-speed DSG transmission. A sunroof will set you back $2,000 while the special metallic or pearl paint adds another $700.
